Looking for a therapist?

therapy + psychology offers a specialist service providing therapy to those with a history of physical or sexual trauma. We do this through ACC contracts and by coordinating with a group of therapists to provide these services to ACC clients.

We will help connect you with a therapist that matches your needs, and if you have a history of sexual trauma, your therapist will help you start the ACC claim process.

Our therapists have the skills to work with clients of different ages and use a variety of therapy models, including arts therapy, EMDR, and various talking therapies. Our therapists include psychologists, counsellors, and arts therapists. Supporting our therapists are social workers and psychiatrists. We also liaise with cultural support workers too.

If you need to work with a therapist, please reach out using this form and we can talk through the process with you.

    Looking to become a therapist?

therapy + psychology has contracts with ACC and other government departments. We will help you become ACC registered and provide insights as to what you might need to consider when beginning a private practice.

If early on in your career, and your registration with ACC is provisional, you will be offered the necessary clinical supervision to gain full registration.

On becoming a provider with therapy + psychology you will be offered six months mentoring to help you on your way within the ACC system and you will be introduced to the CMS Premium business support programme.

This programme has been developed specifically to work within the ACC system to minimize the admin load on providers. Additional functions beyond this will help you manage your case loads too.

Mental health professionals across all different disciplines with all levels of experience are invited to make contact and discuss how we can help.

Dr Ali Maginness Dr Ali Maginness

I have been a clinical psychologist for many years and my work has mostly drawn me towards working with clients with sexual trauma, and this has helped me understand how this can affect a person in so many ways.

My work over the years has also included training and supervision of clinical psychologists and other health professionals, particularly helping them develop their own therapeutic approach to working with clients presenting with trauma histories.

My current role with therapy + psychology merges these two lines of past work into one – helping people with a history of trauma to find a therapist to work with and helping therapists navigate the ACC pathway towards registration and to establish a trauma based practice.
